Pixography, born out of a need for media resources that compliment local animal rescue endeavors, was founded in 2019 by Nashville photographer, April Hollingsworth, owner of Harmony Designs Photography. Through over 14 years of volunteer work in the rescue community, April identified desperately needed support services such as Photography, Videography, Print Media, Social Media.

Pixography is a middle TN based nonprofit offering no cost multimedia support for animal rescues, shelters, and sanctuaries.

Tanya - Agape

Agape Animal Rescue is a small non-profit organization and our employees and volunteers are always going above and beyond to save dogs. While we are working tirelessly for the animals, we rely on the support of the Pixography team to ensure our social presence is top notch and lives are being saved through different multimedia promotions. The Pixography team is reliable and professional, but more importantly, they share our passion for making a difference for the animals in our community.

Let me be absolutely clear…we were NOT looking for a dog. In fact the subject had never come up. So no one could have been more surprised when the photo of Nugget appeared on Instagram and his hopeful face, crooked smile and all, reached through the photo and tugged at my heart. How could that happen? My husband, being the great guy that he is, just nodded wonderingly, when I rushed to show him the picture and announced, “This is my dog!” Nugget came into our hearts and home, bringing daily companionship and smiles.

I'm not much of a believer in "love at first sight", but I did experience when I saw a photo of the dog that would later become my constant companion for 7 1/2 years! I was thinking about adopting my first dog and looking at available dogs on rescue sites. Then I saw a photo of Ladie—an older dog with a salt-and-pepper face, a sweet smile, and the floppiest ears I ever saw! From that photo, I fell in love with a sweet senior and adopted her a few days later. She passed away this summer around age 16 and that photo was the start of a love that will last the rest of my life.

Cait - Rescue volunteer

Working to rescue animals in need is one of the most challenging and demanding areas a person can go into. Beyond having the heart to help abused, neglected and displaced creatures, raising awareness in the local community is crucial. Professional photography and media go a long way toward improving that community outreach. From fundraising and recruiting volunteers to getting animals adopted, high quality media is a great way for any animal rescue to catch people’s attention and draw them in, which in turn increases our ability to aid the animals who mean so much to us.

The moment I saw beautifully done pictures of the orphaned kittens I was interested in finding out more about them, even found myself clicking from one picture to the next, not realizing the impact that they were having. I was intrigued and smitten by them and hadn’t even met them! That’s exactly how powerful pictures are when it comes to dogs and cats needing new forever homes. In my case, when I reached the series of 3 or more of a little ginger tabby with a face that reached right into that camera and looked right at me, I was in love! Without the great kitten pictures, I might not have stopped to look and see the others.
